On February 15, China Southern Power Grid Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau and Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. jointly held an AI achievement conference and a strategic cooperation agreement signing ceremony, releasing the first AI pre-training model based on the Ascend ecosystem in the power industry, as well as the full-stack localization demonstration application of AI based on the Ascend ecosystem.

It is also a new round of attempts by Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, Huawei and other local enterprises to promote the ecological optimization of the digital economy, stimulate collaborative innovation energy, and explore the characteristic development path of Shenzhen's information technology application innovation industry.

It is understood that in 2018, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau and Huawei formally established a strategic partnership to establish an ICT Joint Innovation Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as the "ICT Laboratory"). The renewal of this strategic cooperation agreement will prompt the two parties to further start in-depth cooperation in version 2.0 in five aspects: digital transformation, smart grid, power system, power communication network, and joint innovation. The two parties will strengthen the management of intellectual property rights and joint innovation achievements, promote the incubation of innovation achievements and the integration of upstream and downstream industries, build the influence of the joint creation brand, practice the "double carbon" goal, and fully serve the construction of "dual zones".

The "super brain" draws inferences from one another, and the efficiency of algorithm research and development has been increased by 5 times

Once dust filters, plastic greenhouses and other floating objects are entangled in the power supply line, they will cause tripping, affecting the operation of the power grid and power supply. In the past inspection era, due to the wide coverage of the line, it was difficult to comprehensively monitor the hidden dangers of external drift in a timely manner. Now, in the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau, the power supply personnel can "see the Pengcheng Tower in one day" without leaving home through the intelligent inspection system, and monitor the outflow situation in real time.

Such a big change, thanks to artificial intelligence, allows the inspection system to have the functions of seeing, recording and analyzing, and warning early. And to make it master these capabilities faster and better, it relies on the "super brain" - the pre-trained model.

It is understood that in the daily power supply work, the identification task accounts for more than 80% of the artificial intelligence application scenarios. To this end, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau has built the first AI pre-trained model in the power industry under Huawei's Ascend ecosystem, improving the R&D efficiency of AI algorithms by five times. At the same time, the average accuracy rate of identification tasks has been increased from 85% to 95%, making specific tasks such as troubleshooting equipment hidden dangers and finding faults more efficient, accurate, and intelligent. At present, the pre-trained model has been used in 12 types of tasks such as UAV fine inspection of Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau.

The pre-trained model is a major breakthrough in the transformation of module R&D from manual training to industrial production in the power grid scenario, and it is also the epitome of the artificial intelligence achievements of Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau. According to Tang Shouquan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the Bureau, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau has given full play to the role of new kinetic energy for digital transformation, carried out the deep integration of artificial intelligence technology and power grid business on a pilot basis, and created a number of artificial intelligence application demonstrations in the fields of production, operation, management, and service.

At present, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau has sorted out 18 artificial intelligence scenarios and initially built a digital ecosystem for artificial intelligence to promote business transformation.

A number of first-of-its-kind achievements have promoted the digital transformation of energy

The conference also showcased a number of first-of-its-kind achievements since the establishment of the ICT Lab by Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau and Huawei. In particular, the controllability of core equipment is of great significance to ensure the safe supply of national power. It is understood that the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau has taken the lead in carrying out the research and application of domestic technologies represented by Huawei Kunpeng and Ascend chips in the power industry, carried out compatibility tests on eight categories of domestic software and hardware products, and proposed the first business migration verification platform in the power industry to ensure the smooth operation of the core business system of the power grid on the domestic core software and hardware.

In recent years, the Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau and Huawei have also worked together to promote the in-depth integration of 5G technology and power grid services, including the construction of the world's first 5G SA network differential protection distribution network line to reduce the time of urban power outages. In the 500 kV Pengcheng substation, Shenzhen 5G smart model project was built, which increased the work efficiency of inspection business by 2.7 times and the efficiency of single operation by 70%; Build the world's first 5G pilot in the field of real-time power grid control + collection, and realize outdoor high-definition video inspection.

"2022 is a critical year for the full implementation of the 14th Five-Year Plan. This strategic cooperation will be deeply explored in the field of power grid production business, and the two parties will deepen strategic cooperation in five aspects, including digital transformation, smart grid, and power system. Sun Fuyou, Vice President of Huawei's Enterprise Business Group and President of the Global Energy Business Dept, said. According to the new strategic cooperation agreement, in the next three years, Shenzhen Power Supply Bureau will strengthen cooperation with Huawei in cloud computing, big data, and Internet of Things (IoT) to jointly promote digital transformation and energy industry upgrading, and fully serve major national development strategies such as the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the construction of the Shenzhen Socialist Pilot Demonstration Zone.
